Who we are

Goerres Inc. Pergolas USA has grown from a small garage metalworking business in Brühl to a leading manufacturer of sun protection systems. The company’s growth is based on precision engineering, quality craftsmanship and market adaptability. Their methodical expansion demonstrates how family business values combine with technical innovation to serve customers nationwide.

Humble beginnings

A double garage in Brühl was the birthplace of Detlef Görres’ business in 1991. He began by offering basic metalworking services to local residents, working with minimal equipment and space. His approach centred on two core principles: precise craftsmanship and consistently meeting customer deadlines. This practical foundation helped the small workshop survive its early development phase, even with limited tools and financial resources.

Building momentum through innovation

In the mid-1990s, the company broadened its focus beyond metalworking in direct response to changing market needs. Its strategic approach to product development paid off when it won major public sector contracts for sun protection systems – a clear sign of its evolving capabilities.

Breaking local boundaries proved to be a game changer. The service radius jumped from 30km to 200km, backed up by concrete results: over 1,000 external blind installations in various institutions. These weren’t just numbers on paper – each installation represented real-world experience in managing complex projects at scale. The transformation went deeper than geography, reshaping their entire approach to business. By maintaining high technical standards and embracing innovation, they built a solid reputation in solar shading technology that opened doors to international markets.

International market breakthrough

Technical excellence opened new doors for the company beyond Europe. By establishing strategic partnerships in the Gulf states, the company significantly expanded its market presence. A new dealer network in Saudi Arabia, Oman and the UAE in 2020 raised the company’s status in the international market.

A key turning point came with the Federal Real Estate Agency contract in 2016, which demonstrated the company’s ability to deliver complex projects on a large scale. The company then invested in meeting rigorous manufacturing standards, achieving EN 1090-3 EXC 2 certification in 2019. This certification validates the quality of aluminium fabrication and structural integrity, essential requirements for international construction projects. What began as a local metal fabrication company has evolved into a specialist manufacturer of engineered solar shading systems, now serving customers around the world.
